All you need to know about kerbside recycling in Shropshire
Each household in Shropshire receives a calendar detailing the dates that their recycling, residual waste and their compostable waste will be collected.
Residents in most parts of Shropshire have their recyclable waste and their residual waste collected on alternate weeks. One week we will collect your compostable waste (garden waste) together with your recycling boxes/purple lidded bin - glass and cans, plastic bottles and food trays (not black), blue bag - paper and cardboard. In Shrewsbury & Atcham, North Shropshire and South Shropshire you can also add food waste to your garden waste bin. The following week we will collect the rest of your household waste (the residual waste).
To ensure you can fit as much cardboard as possible into your blue recycling bag, make sure you flatten the boxes.
If you need more information about your collection, telephone the Customer Service Centre on 0345 678 9007.
Assisted Collections
If you have difficulty leaving your waste by the kerbside you can apply for an assisted collection. Please telephone the Customer Service Centre on 0345 678 9007.
Have We Missed Your Collection?
If we haven’t collected your waste containers on the designated day, you can call the Customer Service Centre on 0345 678 9007. Before calling, please check your calendar in case there is a planned changed. Also note that the time of your collection may not always be the same, depending on traffic. When you call the Customer Service Centre they will need your name, postcode and the type of waste that has not been collected (eg. Garden waste, residual waste, cans and glass etc). If your bin has not been emptied, please report this within two working days.
Bulky Waste Collections
Some larger items of waste can be collected by arrangement. There is a small charge for this service. Veolia Environmental Services are working in partnership with a charity called SHOFUR (Network of Shropshire Furniture Schemes) to collect bulky waste in most areas. By teaming up with SHOFUR, bulky waste such as furniture or white goods can be re-used for people in need. If you have items of this nature, please ensure they are kept dry until collection. Please contact the Customer Service Centre to arrange for your item to be collected on 0345 678 9007 or view the South Shropshire Furniture Scheme web site.
